Abstract :  In this study the effect of retrofitting Ultra high performance concrete overlay in the tensile region of distressed reinforced concrete (RC) beams is studied. For the same RC beams of M30 grade and size 100 x 200 x 1500mm are cast having reinforcement ratios of 0.524% (A), 0.785% (B) and 1.113 % (C). The beams are then damaged till 90% of their respective failure load. The distressed beams known as A-R, B-R and C-R are strengthened with ultra high performance concrete (UHPC) overlay of 15mm thickness. The composite beams after subjecting to four point bending failed as monolithic member in flexure without any signs of interfacial delamination cracking. The load carrying capacity, deformability and ductility of retrofitted members are significantly improved by proposed methodology.
