Abstract : The quality of concrete which is not fully and uniformly compacted is lower than its intrinsic quality when fully compacted. The resulting decrease in strength and durability can be significant leading to accelerated degradation. Concrete which compact itself by gravity alone, is the appropriate solutions for quality assurance of complex structures that are difficult to cast.
