Abstract :  Baglihar Hydroelectric Project (450 MW) is located on river Chenab in District Ramban in the State of Jammu & Kashmir (India). The location of the project is close to Batot town which is 120 km from Jammu on NH1 and is spread upto Chandrakot which is 24 km from Batot. The project consists of 143m high concrete dam, intake works, 2.1 km long 10.15m dia headrace tunnel, underground power station having 3 units each of 150MW, and outfall works. Tender for construction of the project was awarded in April 1999 and commissioned in Sept-Oct 2008. This paper givers details of the project and measures taken to after collapse of diversion tunnels to complete the project.
