Abstract :  Sand is one of the major components in concrete. The quality and quantity of sand is directly proportional to that of the concrete planned to be executed. The increasing demands for natural sand and its depleting sources caused its scarcity across the country. The Chennai Metro project, one of the upcoming developments in Chennai, demands a huge amount of concrete for its day-to-day construction activities. With the increasing scarcity of natural sand, an alternative of using manufactured sand for concrete production was thought of. This challenge was partnered, enabling the use of super slump retention technology to achieve the required concrete properties. The concrete was successfully produced by using high-performance super plasticiser with super slump retention technology, with 100% manufactured sand replacement, M40 grade concrete, having slump retention of greater than 150 mm for 3 hours, temperature at 3 hours to be lesser than 32 degree Celsius, WPT at 90 days lesser than 10 mm, RCPT at 90 days lesser than 600 Coulombs.
