Abstract :  Simply supported prestressed concrete box girder bridges with low depth easily crack in the bottom plate and web plate under the action of overloading or some unfavorable factors because of the low depth of the box girder and the thin web. Three measurements and projects of strengthening the bridge are presented according to the characteristics of the low depth box bridge and the specific circumstances at two end of bridge. After analysis and comparison of the technique and cost-effectiveness, the project two for using external steel tendons inside the box and bonding a steel plate on the web was considered as the best to improve the prestressing force and reinforce the shearing resistance.
